Events

For Adults – Families

We are pleased to offer special events and activities throughout the year when possible. Check the New Martinsville Public Library Facebook Page and our Facebook Groups’ Pages for the most up-to-date information and announcements.

Heritage Keeper’s Genealogy Club at NMPL “Preserving Our Past, One Story at a Time” Whether you’re a seasoned researcher or just starting your journey, our community is here to help you trace your ancestry, share family lore, and learn research tips in a fun, supportive environment. Connect with fellow local history enthusiasts, be part of engaging discussions and explore the past to enrich your future—one story at a time. Ready to unearth your heritage? Join us and become a keeper of your family’s legacy! The Heritage Keepers will be meeting the First Saturday of the Month from 10am – Noon in the Genealogy section.

“Rooted in Reading” Book Club at NMPL “Where Stories Take Root and Ideas Blossom” This is an opportunity to come together as a community and read. The name suggests that every discussion and every book is an opportunity to grow and strengthen your roots in literature. Our discussions will be the last Wednesday of the month at 6pm in the meeting room. We are looking forward to starting this fresh new chapter at the library!

For Children

During the school year the Library offers pre-school Story Times on most Tuesdays at 11 am, unless the Wetzel County schools are closed (for snow, road conditions, etc.)

During the summer we have special programming as part of the Summer Reading Program, aimed mostly at elementary-school-aged children. Contact NMPL for details or check the Library’s Facebook page.

All events are Free and Open to the Public unless otherwise noted. See individual events for specific audience levels, space limits or registration requirements and related details. Please contact the library with questions or for more details.

Thanks to officials and agencies of New Martinsville, Wetzel County, Marshall County, and the state of West Virginia. Thanks to our many supporters and community donors. And special thanks to our patrons, participants and presenters.
